ROCHESTER MINNESOTA SENIOR SOFTBALL

BOARD MEETING

American Legion

March 20, 2025


The meeting was called to order at 12:10 pm by League Coordinator Jim Goodman.


ROLL CALL

Board Members: Jim Goodman, Deb Warnke, Chuck Brand, Mike Ewen, Ernie Hain, Randy Stocker, Bill Gosse, Joe Koerner and Bobette Pronk.


GUEST: Joe Kluck, Bob Horstmann, Kenny Nelson, Gary Oldenburg, Kerm Bitz, Neil Melquist, Matt Halleck, Bret Baumbach, Brian Mandler and Randy Kahl.

NEW BUSINESS:


1. Matt Halleck bought before the Board a petition that he circulated concerning the previous Board decision of having a A/B division. After much discussion, a motion was made by Randy Stocker to have the Board reconsider their decision and players take a skills test assessment. Mike Ewen seconded the motion. Randy amended his motion to say, remove the wording that players take a skills test assessment and go back to everyone playing as we had previously did before the Casual League was formed and that the Board revisit the previous motion that the Board had made. Motion was seconded by Mike Ewen. Motion passed with eight Board members voting yes.


SECRETARY’S REPORT:  The Secretary's report for the February 19, 2025 meeting was emailed in pdf format prior to the Board meeting for members to review. Motion made by Chuck Brand, seconded by Deb Warnke and approved to accept the Secretary's Report.


TREASURER’S REPORT: The Treasurer's report for the month ending February 19, 2025 was emailed in pdf format prior to the Board meeting for members to review. Ernie Hain reported the following amounts: checking account $9,516.27 and designated funds $405.11. Motion made by Deb Warnke, seconded by Chuck Brand and approved to accept the Treasurer's Report.


SAFETY & RULES REPORT:

No report.


PUBLIC RELATIONS REPORT:

Randy Stocker reported he had business cards to hand out to recruit new members. Randy and Melissa recommend having one big picnic vs two picnics for the 2025 summer session. He reported he has been trying to get on Midwest Access on KTTC to promote senior softball. He also reported that there will be no senior softball game at the Rochesterfest but we will playing in the Moonshots baseball game. He will be sending out an email concerning having a float in the Rochesterfest parade and asking for help at Rochesterfest.


WEBSITE/TECHNOLOGY REPORT:

Joe Koerner asked if people saw our QR Code posted anywhere to send him a email so he can track where people are seeing it. He reported 33 people had used the code so far.


ACTION ITEMS:

1.Jim Goodman is working on the 2025 Team Managers.

2. Jim Goodman reported the equipment and picnic committees are good. Scott Hanson has agreed to be the field checker once again. Has no one for the nominating committee so far. Will send a email to the former audit committee to see if they are willing to serve again on the audit committee.

3. Update to the Summer website almost ready to go.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. We will be playing the Moonshots at Rochesterfest. Joe Kluck will coordinate the senior softball team members.

2. Deb Warnke showed the new t-shirts for the teams that were scheduled to get new ones. She also discussed the online store to order RMSS merchandise from all year long. We will be using the business Full Court for this online ordering. Next year we will be celebrating 20 years and Melissa is checking on what we can do for that to make it something special. Deb also discussed a design for hats.


NEW BUSINESS (Continued):

2. Ernie Hain reported he has 57 registrations so far for the summer session. He has all the money from team sponsors except one and has received all the league sponsors money.

3. The Board will meet later to discuss and vote on the A/B Division because we did not have a quorum present at the end of the meeting.

4. Joe Kluck reported Dome ball is going good.

5. Jim Goodman reported the D&R Tournament is almost full for volunteers.

Next board meeting is April 16.

Motion made by Ernie Hain and seconded by Bill Gosse to adjourn at 1:35 pm. Motion approved.
