RMSS Board Meeting—12/17/25 and meeting notes

The December board Meeting for RMSS was called to order by League Coordinator Randy S. at 12:15 pm.

Attendees:  Mike B. Bill VW. Chuck B. Willis G. Dennis E. Bill G. Joe Kluck. Tom K. Joe Koerner. Mike W. Deb W. Bill K. Ernie H.

November Meeting Minutes were reviewed and approved.

Treasurer Report: Dennis E. & Ernie H.  Present Balances.

Checking  $4658.41   Designated Fund   $941.11  Non-designated Fund $2246.32

The budget for the 2026 season is in the red.  We are going to reduce expenses by putting new softballs in place only weekly, not every game.  We are going to ask our team sponsors for a $100. increase. New commitments would be...

Team Sponsors  $400. League sponsors $300. Discussion took place. These actions were approved.  The final budget will get finalized at the January Meeting.

Rules & Safety report by Willis G. He named his new committee members.  Sorry, I did not catch all of their names.

We discussed some differences between summer ball rules and Dome ball rules.

Such as the number of players on teams.  Maybe going to 5 teams in Dome ball.  Make sure all players who sign up for dome ball will attend.  If we have nearly 70 players, we may go to 5 teams.  Which would mean no warm ups before games. Games would be at 8am, 9:30am and 11:00am.

Or right after the previous game is finished. Still on Wednesday.

The home run limit in summer league is 1 until the other team has 1. On and on like that.  Dome ball has no limit. We will revisit that again.

All players 80 and older are free to play.  Due to some limitations, some will not be allowed on the field for safety reasons.

The newly elected board members were reviewed and approved.

League Coordinator          Randy Stocker

Secretary                          Bill VonWald

Treasurer                          Dennis Essler

Assistant Coordinators     Bill Gosse & Mike Brady

Publicity Director              Bill Klein

Rules/Safety Committee Director     Willis Goll

Election Committee         Lynette Fitzpatrick, Randy Kahl, Joe Kluck

Reviewed by-law changes. These changes regard the League's responsibility,

Player Conduct. and Attire.  These amendments to the by-laws were passed.

All team Managers for the 2026 season will be selected and approved by the February meeting.  All team managers are on the board and expected to attend board meetings year round.

Next Board Meeting is Wednesday, January 14, 2026, right after the games.

Meeting over at 1:15pm.

Below are some of Randy’s notes to add to the meeting minutes.

Review of the proposed Budget for 2026

§ Negative income of $2955 budgeted. Ways to improve

· Use one softball per week, not per day

· Don’t order any more 11” softballs

· Delete from budget hats, scoreboards, pitcher screens, and team roster boards.

· Reduce publicity costs

· Have only one major picnic a year instead of two.

· Raise sponsorship costs by $100 each. From $300-$400 and from $200-$300.

· How much emergency money do we need to keep?

· Income went down by $2000 in 2025, and expenses went up by $700.

· Rules and Safety Committee Report—Willis

o Committee nominations include:

o All nominees were accepted. Willis noted the difference in the Summer League bylaws and the Dome bylaws. He and Kluck were going to review them.

Don Benike—Bill Sutter—Colleen Hoeft—Bob Horstman—Curt Callstrom—Robert Conway

Player Dress Code—Passed—Randy to send to Joe/Joe to add to website

Limit of League Responsibility-- Passed—Randy to send to Joe/Joe to add to website

· Discussion of possible changes to the Dome Ball schedule and teams—Randy and Joe. Great discussion here. Decided to keep four teams, depending on how many sign up. Add a fifth team if needed to keep teams at 13 players max.

o Five teams instead of four, if needed

o Play three games on Wednesday, with no batting practice--Passed

o Play a ten-game schedule-not discussed

o Monday, keep having batting practice for now.

· Review of safety rules—who can play, who cannot play.

Cannot play on defense—during games or practices

Clayton, Tony, Glenn, Milo, and Dad Gussie.

· Stocker-Board Representative Presentation/Ideas. Great conversation. Thoughts include:

o Part of a manager’s responsibility is to attend board meetings while managing a team.

o If not managing a team, not on board.

· One player threw a bat in anger and almost hurt a few players. Randy to put something in writing If any bat-throwing or tempers happen again, he is out of RMSS.

· Dome Ball and Spring Ball are two separate divisions with two checking accounts.

· New Business

Chuck asked what would happen if something happened to Randy? Who would take over? Randy to  appoint an assistant league coordinator.

Approved $250 for Kluck to purchase food for Friday’s event.
