BOARD MEETING

July 17, 2023

The meeting was called to order at 11:31 pm by League Coordinator Mike Ewen.

ROLL CALL

Board Members: Mike Ewen, Chuck Brand, Ernie Hain, Jim Goodman, John Bowron, Deb Warnke, Joe Koerner, Randy Kahl, Ben Borgen, Bill Sutter, Dave Warnke, Gary Oldenburg and Bobette Pronk.

GUESTS: Carrie Goodman.

SECRETARY’S REPORT:  Report received.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Ernie Hain reported a balance of $8,337.08 in the RMSS checking account. There is $1,543.87 in the designated account and $2,782.95 in the non-designated account. There is roughly $600.00 in outstanding bills from the picnic. Report received.

SAFETY & RULES REPORT

Bill Sutter had nothing to report.

SPECIAL ASSISTANT REPORT

Ben Borgen reported all Twin tickets are gone for 2023. No news on the Dome.

PUBLIC RELATIONS REPORT:

Chuck Brand reported he is checking on prices for more magnetic signs.

WEBSITE REPORT:

Joe Koerner reported he has been sending reports to John Bowron to help him in leveling the teams. Dave Warnke asked Joe to list just the one day a week players on a separate sheet.

ACTION ITEMS:

1. AED-nothing new. Jim Goodman made a motion to buy another AED for $2,000 or less. Seconded by Gary Oldenburg. Motion carried. Mike Ewen will ask Mark Podein what we can get for $2,000 or less.

2. AED and First Aid Class – a date will be picked during session 3.

3. New mask and replacements – John Bowron reported all fields have a mask and he has a new one at home.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Young Guns vs RMSS game will be on July 22. Jim Goodman will send out a email to remind all players.

2. Pitching screen netting – A motion by Chuck Brand, seconded by Randy Kahl to purchase the 60 count netting. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Picnic review – picnic at end of session 2 went well. Looking into possibly having a root beer float get together at the end of session 3

2. Need to know who is going to return on the board for 2024.

3. Nominating Committee is Tim Allen and Christine Richardt.

4. Audit Committee – Neil has stepped down from the Audit Committee. So far the committee is Mike Podein and Joe Kluck. Mike Ewen will make sure they still want to continue.

5. Ben Borgen was looking for someone to replace him for the SSA Senior Softball Tournment. Jim Goodman said he would do it. It is the weekend of August 17, 18, 19.

6. There will be more discussion at the Managers meeting before the next draft concerning the Monday and Wednesday only players.

Next meeting will be August 23.
